When a storm takes slates off, lifts the lead or strips the felt from a flat roof, we make the roof watertight first and then help you put your claim together. You get dated photos, a written report on what the storm did and what it did not, and an itemised quote your insurer can work from. Then we carry out the permanent repair, anywhere in Liverpool and Merseyside.

Dated Photos For Your Insurer
We Say If It Isn't A Storm Claim
The first job is always to stop the water. If slates, tiles or lead have gone and rain is getting in, we make the damaged area safe and watertight, usually with a tarpaulin battened over the roof, so the damage inside the house does not get any worse. Before anything is covered up, we photograph the damage, because those photos are the strongest evidence your insurer will see.
Once the roof is protected, we survey it properly and send you a written report and an itemised quote for the permanent repair. You pass these to your insurer, and when the claim is agreed we book the work in. If water is pouring in right now, our emergency roof repairs in Liverpool page explains how to reach us fastest.
Merseyside takes the full force of storms coming in off the Irish Sea, and the same weak points fail on house after house. Most storm repairs we carry out fall into one of these groups, on slate, tile and flat roofs alike.
Insurers expect you to stop damage getting worse, and the Association of British Insurers advises calling your insurer as soon as you can, arranging temporary repairs and keeping the receipts. We fit temporary cover that will hold until the permanent repair, and our report gives your insurer what it needs: the date, dated photos of each area of damage, what we think caused it, and the itemised cost of putting it right. For more on what policies cover, read our guide to home insurance and roof leaks in Liverpool.
Tarpaulins battened down properly, not weighed down with bricks, so they survive the next spell of wind and rain and keep the inside of the house dry.
Once the claim is agreed, we strip back to sound roof, renew battens and membrane where needed and re-slate, re-tile or re-lead to match, so the repair lasts rather than waiting for the next storm.
Call us as soon as it is safe after the storm. We will check the whole roof, not just the obvious gap, photograph everything and tell you plainly whether it looks like storm damage. You get the report and an itemised quote in writing, ready to send to your insurer.
This is the question most claims turn on. Many insurers use the Association of British Insurers definition of a storm, which includes wind gusts of at least 55mph or rain of at least 25mm an hour, though every policy words it slightly differently. If a claim is disputed, the Financial Ombudsman asks three things: were there storm conditions on or around that date, is the damage consistent with a storm, and was the storm the main cause. Signs that point towards a genuine storm claim:
If what we find is wear and tear, or the repair costs less than your excess, we will say so before you call your insurer. A refused claim can still go on your record.
Damage photographed, then temporary cover fitted to stop rain getting in.
A written report on the cause of the damage, with dated photos and an itemised quote for your insurer.
The roof repaired properly once the claim is agreed, then photographed and the site left clean.
Every permanent storm repair is covered by our written workmanship guarantee, confirmed on your quote. We take a fair deposit, set out in the quote, and the balance is due on completion, once the work is done and you are happy with it.
The guarantee for your repair is written on the quote, so you and your insurer know what is covered.
Slates, tiles, lead and membranes matched to your roof, from established UK suppliers.
Full public liability insurance, with insurance-backed guarantees available on larger jobs.

Typical prices for common storm repairs on Liverpool houses are below. If you are claiming, your insurer pays the agreed cost minus your policy excess, so on a small repair it can be cheaper to pay for it yourself and keep a clean claims record. Our storm damage insurance claim guide walks through the claim step by step.
We price the repair either way and leave the decision to claim with you, with the excess and the cost side by side.
Stay out of the loft if water is coming through the ceiling, move valuables and put buckets down, then photograph the damage from the ground and from inside. Call us to make it watertight and tell your insurer as soon as you can. Our storm damage guide for Merseyside covers what to do in the first few hours.
Verified Google reviews from Merseyside customers we have helped after rough weather.
Whilst undertaking an expert and competitive re roof of a neighbouring semi-detached house and outbuildings, Steve and Chris showed incredible kindness to cement three of my roof tiles that had deteriorated in bad weather some weeks before. They even cleaned out the gutters from the loft conversion. They could not have been more friendly, polite, professional, tidy and even declined to accept any money.

My roof was in desperate need of repair, and in the process of who to choose, I came across Everlast Roofing when they were driving past on a snow day and I was worried a tile might fall. They both were happy to help me and in the end I decided to use them to change my roof. From quote to completion, the whole job has been nothing short of excellent. Professional throughout the whole process.

Based in Liverpool, repairing storm-damaged roofs across Merseyside, the Wirral and nearby towns.
Named storms such as Darragh in December 2024, Éowyn in January 2025, which the Met Office called the UK’s most powerful windstorm for over a decade, and Amy in October 2025 all brought high winds across the North West. Each one left a run of storm damage on Merseyside roofs: slates and ridge tiles blown off, lead flashing lifted and flat roofs peeled back at the edges. Coastal roofs in Crosby, Formby, Southport and Wallasey usually take the worst of it.
After a named storm we make damaged roofs watertight first, then come back for the permanent storm damage repairs once the weather settles. We can make a roof safe in the rain, but we never put anyone on a roof in high winds, as our guide on whether roofers work in the rain explains.
Most UK buildings insurance policies cover sudden storm damage, such as slates, tiles or ridge tiles blown off, but not wear and tear or gradual deterioration. If there is a dispute, the Financial Ombudsman looks at whether there was a storm on or around that date, whether the damage is consistent with a storm and whether the storm was the main cause. Our storm damage report covers all three with dated photos.
Many insurers use the Association of British Insurers wording: wind gusts of at least 55mph, rainfall of at least 25mm an hour, snow at least 30cm deep within 24 hours, or hail heavy enough to damage hard surfaces. Wording varies between policies, so check yours. The Financial Ombudsman does not set a fixed wind speed and looks at weather records for your area on the date.
In many cases, yes. A lot of insurers will accept a report and itemised quote from your own roofer, though some prefer to use their own contractors or send a loss adjuster first. Tell your insurer before any permanent work starts and keep the receipts for emergency repairs. We supply the photos and paperwork they usually ask for.
We can make a roof safe and watertight in the rain, usually with a tarpaulin battened over the damaged section. We will not put anyone on a roof in high winds. Permanent slating, leadwork and flat roof membranes wait for a dry, calmer spell, which gives a better repair and a better record for your claim.
Be wary of anyone knocking on doors after a storm, asking for cash up front or pushing you to sign that day. A genuine roofer has a business address and public liability insurance, shows you photos of the damage, gives you a written itemised quote and takes a fair deposit with the balance on completion.
